About Trade Triad

Trade Triad is an editorial atlas of how trade connected the world. Through an interactive timeline, in-depth articles, and a reference glossary, the site traces how goods, technologies, and ideas moved between societies — from early barter networks through today's global supply chains.

What you'll find here

  • A searchable, filterable timeline of more than one hundred events in trade history
  • Thirty long-form articles covering major routes, institutions, and turning points
  • A glossary of terms used throughout the site
  • A dedicated page explaining our sources and methodology

What Trade Triad is not

Trade Triad is a historical and educational resource. It does not offer investment advice, financial products, trading signals, or any commercial recommendations, and nothing on this site should be read as such. See our Disclaimer for details.

Our approach

We aim to represent trade history as a story with many participants rather than a handful of famous names, to be explicit about where the historical record is uncertain, and to describe exploitation and harm — including slavery and colonial violence — factually rather than glossing over it.
